This may sound a little strange, but this song was inspired by suicide. It's not something I've ever entertained, but somewhere, deep down, I think that suicide can be somewhat romantic. In most cases, I don't think that, but this is just about a guy calling it quits and completely at peace with himself. He even wants his love to jump out of the tree with him.
Whether you think this guy is nuts or not, you gotta respect his pure faith that this is the right thing to do. Funny how you can write about things you just don't know anything about. ;)
